Honey Mandarin Scones
Ingredients
- 1 ¾ cups flour
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 6 tbsp cold butter
- ½ cup buttermilk
- 3 mandarin oranges
Glaze Ingredients
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp mandarin zest
- 1–2 tbsp mandarin juice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- Zest two mandarins. Peel and separate segments.
- Chop segments into small pieces. Save any juice for the glaze.
- In a bowl, mix all dry ingredients.
- Cut butter into small cubes and work into the flour mixture until crumbly.
- Add buttermilk, mandarin zest, and chopped mandarins. Stir gently.
- Turn dough onto a floured surface and shape into a ¼-inch thick disk.
- Cut into 8 wedges and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Optional: Chill wedges for 15 minutes.
- Bake for 15–17 minutes.
Glaze: Mix powdered sugar, zest, and mandarin juice. Drizzle over warm scones.
