Ingredients
- 2¾ cup all‑purpose flour
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp cornmeal
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1–2 tsp salt (to taste)
- ¾ cup milk
- 1½ medium onions, chopped (about 2½ cups)
Instructions
- Mix the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl.
- Gradually stir in the milk until you have a smooth batter.
- Fold the onions into the batter, ensuring they’re well‑coated.
- Heat a thin layer of oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, flattening slightly.
- Cook for 2–3 minutes on each side or until golden and crispy.
- Remove the fritters from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
- Serve warm.
