Onion Fritters

Ingredients

  • 2¾ cup all‑purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornmeal
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1–2 tsp salt (to taste)
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1½ medium onions, chopped (about 2½ cups)

Instructions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl.
  2. Gradually stir in the milk until you have a smooth batter.
  3. Fold the onions into the batter, ensuring they’re well‑coated.
  4. Heat a thin layer of oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, flattening slightly.
  6. Cook for 2–3 minutes on each side or until golden and crispy.
  7. Remove the fritters from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve warm.
